Editor's notes

Developed from Gary Hume’s American Tan IV (2006–07), this vase for Giobagnara Art Edition carries the painting’s forms around a tall cylindrical surface. Yellow suede gives the composition its dominant colour, accompanied by brown and sage. Fine boundaries of exposed aluminium articulate the shapes, introducing reflected light between the softer leather fields.

The rounded format allows the image to emerge gradually as the viewer moves around the vessel. Fitted with glass inside, it accommodates fresh flowers or branches, while its scale and colour give it an independent sculptural presence. Made in Italy in a numbered and signed edition of 12.
