Editor's notes

The Cleric Box by Gary Hume for Giobagnara Art Edition places an image developed from his 2000 painting across a broad rectangular lid. A face emerges through simplified forms in nappa leather and exposed aluminium, its recognisable features held within an abstract arrangement. The leather is inlaid flush into the metal, preserving the precision of the drawing.

Inside, vivid green leather introduces a fresh colour beneath the restrained exterior. Brushed brass details complete the box, the largest of the three Hume designs. Displayed on a coffee table or desk, it offers both storage and an engaging work to examine closely. Made in Italy in a numbered and signed edition of 12.
