Editor's notes

The Margo Side Table by Martino Gamper for Giobagnara is a considered study in surface and proportion. Its leather marquetry top is framed by shaped Canaletto walnut corners, allowing the grain of the wood to become part of the design. Lacquered inlays extend along the sculpted legs, carrying a fine line of colour through the structure.

A second leather-covered level repeats the outline beneath, giving the table a layered appearance without enclosing its form. The balance between solid corners and open space lends this compact piece an engaging visual lightness. Beside a sofa or reading chair, it offers room for everyday objects while retaining the presence of a carefully composed decorative piece. The choice of leather and lacquer colours allows its graphic character to be gently emphasised or more boldly expressed.

Margo | Giobagnara x Martino Gamper

Created by Martino Gamper for Giobagnara Design Editions, Margo made its debut at Design Miami Paris in October 2026, as part of Curated Forms by Giobagnara. The collection brings an artist’s sensitivity to the meeting of materials. Its name derives from the Latin word for border: an idea explored through the edges and junctions where leather, Canaletto walnut and lacquered wood come together.

Gamper’s playful approach to geometry finds expression in carefully framed surfaces, sculpted corners and unexpected accents of colour. The natural grain of walnut lends warmth to compositions whose character changes with the chosen palette. Across furniture and lighting, each piece has a distinct sculptural presence, grounded in Giobagnara’s leather craftsmanship and the pleasure of everyday use.
